It turned out to be a cloudy day, but at least the rain stayed off until it was starting to get dark. We decided to concentrate on the fruit trees, and their new home. In other words, our unused bottom plot would become a fruit orchard once we'd cleared the brambles and weeds.

Malcolm got busy with the brush cutter, while I unwrapped all the tree roots and put them in water to soak, then started raking up the stuff he'd cut down. It took all afternoon, but we were impressed how much we cleared. (Check out the photos above and below, taken before and after, from opposite angles - the blue water butt will help show where things are in relation.)

I remember someone telling us this bottom plot was cultivated once (the top plot might not have been) and although there was no evidence in the state of the ground, there were bits of rubbish that certainly backed this up. Mostly bits of plastic sheeting, but surprisingly, still more broken glass! We're hoping the weather will be ok tomorrow, so we can get the trees in.
